It's confusing to say the least because if the debts are the Sheffield Steelers, then does it matter who the owner is? It didn't stop the 2005 liquidator coming for a new owner, I would have thought that if 2005 debts were caused by a previous owner would mean that they would persue Lea for it. I do hope that Maraini will be able to continue, but is does seem to be like Cardiff all over again.
It was delayed with the 55k, I don't know what the agreement was with the liquidator about the outstanding amount.
The liquidator came for BP because he moved season ticket money out of SYIHC to fund the new season. According to BP he was advised by both his lawyers and the liquidator that this would be legal because season ticket funds were held in trust for the club. In end the liquidator decided it wasn't legal and BP was taken to the County Court, where he was ordered to repay the money.
BP has talked about suing Norton Lea for failing to disclose the full extent of SYIHC's credit liabilities prior to it's purchase.
BP has taken on a lot of financial risk in trying to rescue the Steelers from Norton Lea - that should be recognised and weighed against the mistakes/deals he is alleged to have made since.
