OK - I have to get straight into this - What is Norton Lea's involvement in all this over the last few weeks - his name is cropping up more and more frequently in various different scenarios, and all seem to lead to a hit at BP.

Can anyone shed any light on this ??

All the crap that is heading BP's way is mainly due to the first liquidation shortly after BP took over...which he bought from Norton Lea...thats the link basically...I think
Name: Jordan Richards

Interesting how the headlines differ due to the people it's referring to!

Article from 9th of July

Simmsy's Steelers mass resignation shock

Phillips has been stunned by the resignations of almost his entire staff

Todays 'exclusive' article

Phillips quits Steelers' high command

I have decided to resign as Non Executive Chairman of the Sheffield Steelers with immediate effect
Why so serious?

Surely the league could just say that he/his wife isn't fit to run the club and force a sale and they take control of everything. I'm sure the premiership has a similar system. Owners have to pass a sort of test to show that they are fit to own a club. Surely bob and his wife aren't after all the trouble they have brought to this club.

Don't see what you are getting at Glovesave. First article was about multiple resignations, wheras today is one resignation, so one person resigned.

There does seem to be a little bit of deja vu here, ask the Cardiff Devils fans  They told us so

DId *they* bring all the trouble to this club or was it actually a previous owner and incompetent management? I don't know and I don't think you do either.

My point is the underlined words. The 'heartbeat' of the Steelers resinged, whereas the evil Bob Phillips has decided to quit, when in fact he is quoted as saying he has resigned. Quit is a much dirtier word than resigned!

Nothing has changed, this was done by Bob before in Cardiff where Bob still had a hands on role.

This is however some admission of what is going on behind the scenes and that Bob is unfortunately experiencing some problems financially, I cant see though how retaining control of a sports team would infact help his situation. I can only see a downward spiral for Bob and the Steelers whilst there is no change.

From where has the money that is being injected come from?

Why was there concern about raising capital to answer a court issue, and now money is suddenly available?

Deja vu, all over again?

Reading that it comes across as everything changes, but nothing changes.

The relevant bits of the article for me are:

Thanks to the dedication of several committed volunteers and other parties and after much hard work we have sorted the situation out and this club is now fit and ready to go in to the new season. We have an outstanding player in Ben Simon coming in to take over as player/coach and a well respected ex player in Neil Abel running the bench, Ben has been in contact with most of the players and has been given their commitment to return.

We have secured a new title sponsor to be announced shortly, a company with massive networking potential who are fully committed to seeing this club hit the ice come the start of the year. The oversees players' international transfers have been applied for having now being able to access the UK Border Agency's sponsorship management system, we have been able to obtain work permits for all the players that need them. These players are now fully able to get on with applying for their visas, a process that that they should be able to complete in time to fly in on schedule. This club is now in a fit and proper state to start the new campaign.

It sounds like most players will be returning.

The paperwork is being sorted meaning most/all of the players should be here on time.

The headline sponsor isn't the company that's already been announced.

This changes nothing.

But I have to say, is Bob's wife GM and owner?
