We can now keep this club alive

Postby jayboy (SSHOF) » Fri Jul 30, 2010 8:30 am

OK let me explain How!

Easy really!

By coming together as fans and putting our own differences and opinions aside!

And going to watch Sheffield Steelers Play Ice hockey Come the 4th of September onwards.

Some of the feeling is that by going to watch Steelers now will be lining Bobs Pocket. I think that by not going and encouraging other fans not to go will only help finally destroy our club.

The club "not Bob Pillips or Dave simms or a new consortium!" needs the fans to attend the arena. Come under protest, make your feelings known, but come and pay your £16 and watch Ice hockey! Because thats what any future buyer will be looking for. If we can sit though an entire season of dross last season, then you can give your support this season to Ben, Neil and the player this season.

Principles are something most of hold dear! I urge you to to net let them or certain people drive you away from Sheffield Steelers.

The club needs Bums on seats to survive and that in reality is the only way most of us can do our bit.

As someone said Before Owners come and go you either love them or hate them! But we are still here.

+1. I'll be there - season ticket in hand - 4th September. We need to put this all behind us and move on for the sake of the players and coaching staff who come to us, I think they need our support this season more than ever after this summer.

Those are my thoughts Jay.

At the end of the day it's a numbers game.

If enough fans and sponsors support the club, we'll continue to have top level ice hockey in this region.

If fans and sponsors don't turn up, then will the last person out of the Arena please turn off the lights, because the Sheffield Steelers will become just a memory.

This is why I'm finding the reporting in The Star so frustrating, for the last month it has deliberately concentrated on the negative and that will put off both supporters and sponsors. Maybe Bob W wanted to push Bob P so far into a corner that he had to sell, but that hasn't happened and to some extent now we're left with a wounded animal in charge.

What's done is done, but maybe now we need to start focusing on the positives to give Ben a chance in his new role.

Dave Simms probably has more reason than most to not attend games and fund the new owner, but he's willing to put his hand in his pocket to support his ice hockey team, I suggest others do the same.

United we stand, divided we fall.
Regards

I would agree hole heartedly with the previous 2 posters on here. Go to the games wether you like the owner or hate him, look at the situation at Man Utd there are as many yellow and green scarfs as red in protest about there owners. But do not ruin your chances of having a team to support in the long run by boycotting games.

Exactly!
I will honestly be happy to sit next to any supporter with any opinion, it means they are sat supporting the Steelers, thats why I will be there, thats why they would be there! Common ground already! 8)

We have two sides in this battle but only one Sheffield Steelers Hockey Club. The hardest thing in all this is to stay neutral, believe me I know, I hear the snot flying everyday from somebody on the phone or via email.

Ask them what I say! I am a Steelers Fan I want what is ultimately best for the club!

And at this present time, its Bums on seats!

+1 exactly my thoughts jay...I mentioned this on the Legue thread that we need to forget our differences about the off ice issues and go and support the on ice product...I for one wouldnt miss the 1st game for the world I love ice hockey to much and I think Simmsy coming out and saying he'll be paying £16 to watch this club on the 1st game of season speaks volumes.

Lets get behind Ben and the team!!!

this is the truth guys and girls, support your club! I've never been a season ticket holder and probably never will be, but I have always gone to games when I can for the last 10+ years. These last couple of months have opened my eyes to the rollercoaster that is the steelers over the years but hopefully it's just another chapter!

I'm not pleased with the turn of events and can honestly say I would of liked new owners to come in and start a fresh. It is not to be though despite bob offering a sale…so he's making effort to ice a team for another season? We will have a team to support, a game to go too… and I will, it's the game I came for in the first place with friends and it's the steelers I have supported since.

I was there before bob, were you?
And if the books balance through the season, the storm has passed and the sale would be more attractive and probably go through?…

and I will still be there, will you?

Support the team, that's how it started and surely not how it should end. I'll do my bit, will you do yours?

I will be there, I'm not happy with the way this is playing out, but first and foremost I am a Steelers fan, I support the team and will be there at the first game and for the rest of the season, no matter who is in charge!

Does it matter to you who runs the shop you get your groceries from?
Does it matter to you who runs the shop you get your clothes from?
Does it matter to you who runs the shop you get your Newspapers from?
Does it matter to you who runs the shop you get your Computer from?

So why does it matter to you who owns the Steelers?

It matters to a lot of people, just use the other thread to discuss it.

I just want fans to be attending games while all this plays out! The club as to survive all this for any potential buyers to see it has worth buying!
