I found these bits interesting:

"Last week we were on the ropes when the bank seemed to pull the plug, but now we are back on line. The club is off the market, although people can come and talk to me at any time."

and

It is thought Steve Munn may consider using a two-week get-out clause in his contract and new boy Jerramie Domish is seeking possible employment elsewhere

Thought, possible, maybe, perhaps.....

I guess we wait and see.

I love it, some good news for once in the last couple of months but Bob W still finds away to bring it down. You've got to give this a guy a chance to talk to the players first before saying this and that player are going to be leaving!

...and it seems this all singing and dancing consortium with the NHL coach can't stump up the cash required....why isn't there a full page on that Bob???

I really hope Steve doesn't go elsewhere. He's a hero amongst the fans, and that's something that counts when you're looking for matchnight entertainment.

Great signing for player coach. Welcome to Sheffield Ben. We still have to remember that it's going to be a learning experience for him. We all know how fickle the Sheffield crowd is, I just hope they can at least give him a chance whilst he finds his feet.

And so it continues! Couldn't we have one day where things looked to be settling down? Is this going to continue till there is no Steelers to fight over?

I have to say that after defending Bob W's right to report on what was happening even I am starting to wonder about his motives!

It is thought Steve Munn may consider using a two-week get-out clause in his contract and new boy Jerramie Domish is seeking possible employment elsewhere.

It is also thought that having bought two tickets for this Fridays Euromillions I may well retire next Monday! That's not journalism that's just fanning the flames!

This bit caught my eye from the PHN release

we have a couple of new players we’re going to be looking at; some of the old players are obviously right in the mix, we want their commitments

Does that mean a couple of new players for the last spot (i.e. more than one option for the last spot) or does it mean he's looking at a couple of players for a couple of spots (i.e.someone will be leaving)???

He certainly looks a good signing, he's got points in the NHL which is pretty good and he's played a decent amount of games in that league. I welcome him to the Steelers and hope he has a good stay with us. Is he any relation to Chris Simon?

Reading The Star a couple of things made me ponder about his "signing".............

The Welshman says ex NHL centre Ben Simon will take over the coaching reins from Dave Matsos. While the player has yet to sign a contract, Phillips said Simon was a "100 per cent certainty" to join up.

and

If he commits on paper, he may face a job to keep some skaters who do not want to work with Phillips

Is this guy actually coming? I don't want to pour cold water on the exitement but has he signed?

If you have signed Ben, welcome to Sheffield. The weather may be rainy but the summer's are rarely dull!!!!!

Seriously, I do like the look of this guy and hope he has a few mates who've played with him at said NHL and AHL teams who may wish to join him!!!!

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I was on the phone with Bob P last night and we discussed this very subject, and to Bobs credit he was trying to get hold of BW to give him this story! I ask how he thought it would be reported in the Star, and Bob said he hadn't got an issue with Bob W and he thought it would be reported has me and Neil have published it!

Not with a positive spin necessary but taken as it was given.. When I read the press release, i saw it as a quite positive one with comments from Ben Simon on his future role and the present crisis in our club etc...

It was around 7:30 so I dont know if Bob W got the full press release but he obviously got the info from somewhere. And didn't see it as positive as some others will.

He's definitely signed.

<<HERE>> He is speaking to Seth last night, sounds veyr honest about the situation currently and it sounds like he's just there to concentrate on the hockey which is what the fans would want i think.

He (Simon) told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm excited and I am looking forward to getting things back on track. We're going to have an exciting team."

That reads to me that he has signed!

I spoke to him myself last night, no-one else, me , on my own, on the phone, in person, no third party involve, just me and Ben.

He has signed.
